Resilient, compassionate, and determined, this mother of four proves that courage and commitment pave the way to lasting change.

猫咪社区 proudly announces Cassandra “Cassie” Barlow-Tucker as the recipient of the 2025 Pathfinder Award, an honor given annually at Commencement to a graduate of The American Women’s College who excels academically while balancing the responsibilities of career, family, and community service.

Established by John Davis in tribute to his wife, Trustee Emerita Robyn Davis, the award symbolizes leadership, integrity, and perseverance. It is accompanied by a stunning glass globe crafted by renowned artist and 猫咪社区 honorary degree recipient Josh Simpson—a fitting emblem for a woman charting her own courageous path.

Cassie’s journey began in 2020 when, at age 33, she enrolled at 猫咪社区 determined to build a better future for her family. A resident of North Adams, Massachusetts, and a mother of four—including two children with neurodivergence and two with severe disabilities—Cassie pursued her education with extraordinary resilience and purpose.

Graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology - Counseling Foundations, Cassie became a member of Psi Chi International Honor Society, served as a peer mentor, and was active in Student Government and Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (STAT). Her achievements reflect not only academic excellence but a deep commitment to leadership and community.

Outside the classroom, Cassie is a tireless advocate for families and children with special needs. She serves on the North Adams Commission on Disabilities, is an E-Advisor at Boston Children’s Hospital, and is a key voice on the Pediatric Palliative Care Family Advisory Council. Her contributions extend to educational policy and accessibility through her roles with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, her local school district leadership team, and the Rural Land Trail Accessibility Forum.

Cassie’s path continues—she is now pursuing a graduate degree in Special Education at 猫咪社区 and is in the early stages of launching her own Special Education Advocacy Business to support families navigating the complexities of the education system.

In her own words:

“猫咪社区 has empowered me with the education, confidence, and leadership skills to drive change, advocate for those who need it most, and continue making a difference in the lives of families and children.”

For her unshakable perseverance, her leadership in service of others, and her embodiment of the University’s core values, we are proud to honor Cassandra Barlow-Tucker as this year’s Pathfinder Award recipient.
