The Finance & Investment Strategies Certification is a graduate-level certification designed for professionals seeking to sharpen their financial acumen and apply investment and corporate finance strategies to real-world challenges.
This certification includes three essential courses:
- Financial Markets (MBA 608): Explore the inner workings of equities, debt, money, and mutual fund markets, alongside the institutions that support them. Understand how the Federal Reserve System influences market dynamics and economic conditions. Students will gain a broad perspective on how various financial markets operate individually and interdependently.
- Investment Strategy and Risk Management (MBA 660): Dive into portfolio construction, risk-return analysis, and the application of time value concepts using Excel and real-time financial data. Students will learn to build, test, and evaluate investment strategies using platforms like Morningstar, Yahoo Finance, and Google Finance, gaining hands-on experience in investment decision-making and risk assessment.
- Applied Corporate Finance (MBA 681): Develop the financial insight to make strategic corporate decisions. This course covers key concepts such as present value, capital budgeting, cost of capital, bond and equity valuation, and enterprise valuation. Students will apply financial theories to assess investment opportunities and create value for stakeholders.
This certification equips you with a robust financial toolkit to support careers in corporate finance, investment analysis, and strategic decision-making.
This certification can be completed on its own or count as three of the ten courses required toward your MBA.
Admission Requirements

For consideration, applicants must submit the following admission requirements:
- A completed application -
- Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts (a GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred)
- An original essay of at least 250 words on the topic: "Why a Finance & Investment Strategies Certification is important to my personal and professional goals"
- A current resume
- Two recommendations -
