Nancy Agabian

Instructor: Mentorship Lab I, II, III and Reading and Writing Contemporary Women鈥檚 Stories

Nancy Agabian is a writer, teacher, and literary organizer, working in the intersections of queer, feminist, and Armenian American identity. She is the author of the autobiographical novel, The Fear of Large and Small Nations (Nauset Press, 2023), a finalist for the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially-Engaged Fiction and a bronze medalist for the Foreword Indies Prize in Multicultural Fiction. Her previous books include Princess Freak (Beyond Baroque Books, 2000), a collection of poetry, and Me as Her Again: True Stories of an Armenian Daughter (Aunt Lute Books, 2008), a memoir. 

In 2021, Nancy was awarded Lambda Literary Foundation’s Jeanne Córdova Prize for Lesbian/Queer Nonfiction. A longtime adjunct writing professor at NYU and CUNY, she has also led creative writing workshops for women in Armenia, immigrants in Queens, queer folx in NYC, and SWANA writers online. As a literary organizer, Nancy volunteers on the Board of the International Armenian Literary Alliance.
