Diane Hall serves as a full-time faculty member within the Psychology department at the University and Coordinator of the Justice and Forensic Studies program. To this role, she brings her experience of working in both clinical and forensic settings and is especially skilled in working with acute, high-risk individuals. Hall’s focus is on experiential learning, and she has formed collaborations with several area agencies, such as the Hampden County Sheriff’s Office, Alianza DV Services, and Homework House of Holyoke, that provide educational and experiential opportunities for students outside the classroom. She also co-founded the RISE-UP program, an integrated learning experience that combines residents in the Western MA Recovery and Wellness Center with traditional undergraduate students in a positive, collaborative learning environment.

Hall began teaching at 猫咪社区 as an Adjunct Professor in 2004 and was appointed as a full-time faculty member in 2006. In 2018, she attained the rank of Professor of Psychology. In 2025, Hall assumed the position of Coordinator of the Justice and Forensic Studies program and teaches a variety of undergraduate courses in the areas of clinical and forensic psychology.

She has served as the Primary Advisor for the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology since 2015, conducting community service with the students every year. Hall also serves as an honors thesis advisor for students conducting their capstone honors research projects. As a member of the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, Hall has served on several committees including a three-year appointment as Co-Chair of the Teaching and Mentoring Committee. She is also a member of the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association and has conducted numerous regional and national presentations on the topics of experiential education, social justice, and mentoring.

Hall started her career in the mental health field at the Adult Psychiatric Treatment Unit at Baystate Medical Center, where she completed her master’s level internship as an Inpatient Psychiatric Specialist. She later worked at Providence Behavioral Health Hospital as a Triage Clinician, where she performed clinical assessments and worked with families, professionals, forensic services, and a variety of community agencies to determine the psychiatric needs and level of care required for treatment. Hall also worked for Behavioral Health Network at the Hampden County Correctional Center as a Forensic Clinician. In this capacity, she performed comprehensive clinical assessments, crisis intervention/risk assessments, and intake evaluations of incarcerated men and women. She also conducted suicide prevention and assessment training for the correctional staff and co-facilitated forensic psychotherapy groups with male inmates on pre-trial status. Hall completed her doctoral-level practicum working with male detained youth in the custody of the Department of Youth Services at the Westfield Youth Service Center, and she completed her doctoral-level internship requirements at the School Street Counseling Institute providing outpatient clinical treatment and assessments. Hall’s dissertation, titled Assessing Academic Enablers Among Incarcerated Youth: Implications for Teaching and Learning bridges the fields of criminal justice, education, and psychology.

Hall obtained a Doctorate of Education in Educational Psychology from American International College. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Psychological Services with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College, and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction Writing from 猫咪社区. Hall received her baccalaureate degree in Psychology from Our Lady of the Elms College, graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors. She is also a graduate of Springfield Technical Community College, earning an Associate in Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.

Hall is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and holds certifications as a Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor and a Certified Clinical Criminal Justice Specialist through the National Association of Forensic Counselors. Hall is also a Certified Personality Disorder Treatment Specialist, a Certified Anger and Depression Management Specialist, and a Certified CANS assessor. Hall received the President’s Award for Excellence in Innovative Thinking and the Thumbprint Award from 猫咪社区. She also received the Innovative Teaching Honorable Mention award and the Teaching Resources Award from the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.
